A pyrotechnics team from Poland has been crowned champions of Blackpool’s annual World Fireworks Competition after dazzling record crowds. The Nakaja Art team raised the bar with their “pyromusical” display during the first of three spectacular shows held on the Tower Festival Headland in September and October.
Judges awarded them top marks ahead of performances from Finland and the USA, calling the display “fabulous” and commending its musical synchronization and the incorporation of Poland’s national colors. With extensive experience in staging fireworks across Europe and Central America, the Polish team previously orchestrated a major spectacle for a Jean Michel Jarre concert in Krakow.
The World Fireworks Championship in Blackpool is one of the resort's highlight events, featuring displays synchronized to music and launched from the beach in front of The Blackpool Tower. Each night attracted around 50,000 attendees for this year’s free shows.
Cllr Lynn Williams, Leader of Blackpool Council and a judge for the event, remarked, “This year’s competition was magnificent. We were fortunate with the weather on all three nights, leading to the largest crowds we've ever seen at our fireworks events. It was heartwarming to see so many families—both residents and visitors—enjoying these spectacular displays in such a unique setting. We can’t wait to do it all again in 2025!”
